La Darbia is in Vacciago, in the municipality of Ameno, a tiny antiquated village immersed in the verdant hills overlooking Lake Orta.

Ameno and Vacciago have been renowned tourist destinations since the 1800s; their numerous stately mansions and noble villas are a characteristic feature and may be visted on the occasion of the annual exhibition "Studi Aperti".

Of particular interest is Casa Calderara, which houses a precious collection of Contemporary Art and the beautiful Franciscan convent dating back to the 1600s, built on Monte Mesma.

Just a few kilometres further on, you can visit Lake Maggiore, an area rich in history and artistic achievements.

It ncludes the noble and beautiful islands Isole Borromee, sumptious Stresa and magnificient villas with their gardens.

Mottarone rises up between the two lakes; the view from the top is of incomparable beauty as it stretches across the Maritime Alps and Monte Rosa and spans the territory incorporating the seven lakes.

For mountain lovers, there are several famous destinations, all easily reached

Val Formazza and the Toce Waterfalls, Val Grande and Val d'Ossola, Premia Hot Springs and many nature walks.

The Monte Rosa massif, which can be accessed from Alagna in nearby Valsesia, offers both romantic and evocative destinations with snow capped peaks in sight and hair-raising climbs on the eastern face of Punta Dufour, the second-highest peak in Europe.
